The celebrated Marie Chouinard from Montréal presents a double
programme: Throughout “Chorale”, we can hear the changing
rhythms of the breath as an impulse for abstract movement rituals. In
“24 Préludes by Chopin”, each ending breathes out
into a new beginning: Playfully, the brilliant ensemble of eleven dancers
turns on pointe, cutting the air with flinging limbs. And giving way
to the wing-like flapping of a solitary hand: suspended in mid-air,
yet never to be caught – like impressionism itself.
